Seven
Oaks Plantation "is an invitation"
to relax and enjoy a touch of the past amid true country
elegance. This 10,000 square foot West Indies style
home overlooks Lake Pontchartrain, is convenient to the airport
and is only twenty minutes from the New Orleans French Quarter. |
|
World
famous Architect A. Hays Town designed the home
in the style of a 1795 early Louisiana plantation built
during the time of Spanish dominion. Architectural materials
used in construction were from the ruins of a Plantation
called Seven Oaks and other old buildings. The
landscaped gardens include a natural fish pond, a pigeonnaire,
an herb garden and not only native Louisiana trees and
plants, but other exotic plants as well. |
 |
 |
The private,
beautifully appointed guest rooms
open onto a very large living room with exposed beams, a
fireplace, antiques, Audubon's and a piano. From the living
room, guests walk out onto twelve foot galleries where a
view of the lake can be enjoyed. |
|
Following
early morning coffee, a full Plantation Breakfast is
served
and guests can view many species of birds that inhabit
the garden. The entire home can be toured where guests
enjoy Louisiana Antiques with furniture made by Prudent
Mallard and Signoret. Also on display is a collection of
old New Orleans Mardi Gras memorabilia including invitations,
medals and favors. |
